Tolfine-Tolfedine CS

Tolfine-Tolfedine CS

The only NSAID registred as a single injection in the management of bovine mastitis

 Composition

Injectable solution :
Tolfenamic acid…………………………4.00 g
Sodium hydroxymethanesulfinate….…0.50 g
Benzyl alcohol…………………………1.04 g
Excipient to…………………………….100 ml

 Properties

Tolfenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory of the fenamate family. It inhibits prostaglandin synthesis and also inhibits the tissue response to prostaglandins which is not the case of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatories. Its action is antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory.
Tolfenamic acid follows an entero-hepatic cycle, ensuring a long half-life time, permitting administrations more spaced out than with other anti-inflammatories, especially by the intramuscular route where the activity is maintained for 48 hours (intravenous route : 24 hours).
Tolfine® has a low toxicity and is well tolerated : no side effects were noted during clinical trials.
Local reactions are very rare and have never appeared during injections in the neck (presence of aponeurosis and numerous intramuscular spaces).
